Land-Based & Balance Training
Land-based training focuses on how your dog moves in everyday life—standing, walking, turning, sitting, and navigating their environment. These exercises are performed on solid ground using your dog’s own body weight and natural movement patterns to build strength, coordination, and confidence.
To enhance these sessions, we incorporate balance equipment such as foam pads, discs, wobble boards, and low platforms. These tools introduce controlled instability to help dogs engage stabilizing muscles and improve body awareness in a safe, supported environment.
Why This Training Is Important
- Real-World Strength: These exercises build functional strength for daily activities like climbing stairs or getting up from rest.
- Better Balance & Body Awareness: Unstable surfaces provide feedback to the nervous system, helping dogs improve coordination and reduce the risk of injury.
- Healthier Movement Patterns: We focus on proper posture, alignment, and weight shifting during transitions like sit-to-stand.
- Confidence in Movement: Mastering new challenges helps senior dogs, those recovering from injury, or dogs that feel unsure about movement gain confidence in their bodies.
Our Approach
All exercises are introduced gradually and customized to your dog’s individual needs, age, and comfort level. We prioritize quality of movement over difficulty, using close supervision and positive reinforcement. Many exercises begin with just one or two paws on the equipment and progress only when your dog is ready.
